PHILADELPHIA – East Stroudsburg University's women's tennis team improved to 7-4 on the season with a 9-0 win over Philadelphia University, while the men fell 5-4 in non-conference action on Sunday in Philadelphia.

Sophomore Amanda Kaufman picked up a 6-3, 3-6, 10-4 win over Daniela Rodriguez at No. 1 singles and freshman Amy McGrath pulled out a 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6) victory over Laura Beaver at No. 5 in the best two matches of the day on the women's side.

Junior Jamie Katie D'Ambrosia won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 and junior Jamie Ferrigno was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 3, while freshman Alex Santoro won an 8-5 decision at No. 5.

Ferrigno improved to 10-5 on the season and 40-15 in her career at ESU, while D'Ambrosia is 9-5 on the season. The Warriors' top doubles pairing posted an 8-1 victory for their seventh straight win and are 12-3 on the year, including a 10-1 mark in dual action.

Kaufman and senior Marissa Tanner were paired at No. 2 doubles and posted an 8-4 victory. The Warriors picked up their final two points with forfeits at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

In the men's match, the Warriors won a trio of third-set tiebreakers in singles play but the Rams took two of the three doubles matches to improve to 6-3 on the season.

Junior Will Norris won by a 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 score at No. 1 singles, junior Jared Rosenberg won 6-3, 1-6, 11-9 at No. 3 and junior Zach Ontell had a 4-6, 6-4, 10-3 victory at No. 5. Philadelphia U won the other three singles spots in straight sets.

In doubles play, Norris and his brother, graduate student James Norris, had an 8-2 win at No. 1. The Rams won 8-5 at No. 2 and 8-6 at No. 3 to pick up a pair of critical points before the two sides split the six singles flights.

The Warriors' women travel to Holy Family and Goldey-Beacom for non-conference matches next weekend, while the men are off until they open their PSAC East schedule on March 30 at Millersville.
