Michelle Mangiaruga tied her career-high with five goals, junior
Molly O'Hara scored four goals and East Stroudsburg University outscored Millersville 9-3 in the second half for a 16-9 victory in PSAC East lacrosse on Thursday afternoon.
ESU (5-1, 2-1 PSAC East) led 7-6 at halftime before Millersville's Liz Weekley scored just over a minute into the second half to tie the game at 7-all. The Warriors responded with nine of the next 10 goals, including three by O'Hara and two each by Mangiaruga and junior
Christine Bradley, to put away the Marauders (1-4, 0-3).
Millersville led 5-3 after Weekley scored the first of her four goals with nine minutes left in the first half before ESU put together a four-goal run on two goals by Mangiaruga and one each by junior
Morgan Knowles and freshman
Ali Green. Brittney Long pulled Millersville within 7-6 on a free position shot with five seconds left in the half.
ESU held advantages of 38-18 in shots and 19-10 in draw controls, led by five by O'Hara and four each by Mangiaruga and Knowles.
The Warriors took over after Weekley's free position goal tied the game, with their top scorers – Bradley, O'Hara and Mangiaruga – dominating the action during the decisive stretch in the second half.
Mangiaruga (98 career points), O'Hara (97) and Bradley (95) will all have the opportunity to go over the 100-career point mark on Saturday against Slippery Rock.
Mangiaruga had two five-goal games last season and added the third of her career on Thursday, while her twin sister Morgan had an assist for Millersville.
O'Hara leads ESU with 15 goals this season, Mangiaruga has 13 goals and five assists and Bradley has nine goals and 11 assists. Green had a goal and two assists vs. Millersville and has six goals and three assists early in her freshman year.
Saturday's game vs. Slippery Rock begins at 1 p.m. at Whitenight Field. The Warriors will return to PSAC East play next Wednesday with a trip to division leader West Chester.
