CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior Molly O'Hara scored four goals for her 15th career hat trick, including the go-ahead goal 30 seconds into the first overtime, as East Stroudsburg University earned a 14-13 win at Queens (N.C.) in its 2010 lacrosse season opener on Monday.

O'Hara put the Warriors ahead 13-12 on the third assist of the game by junior Christine Bradley, and junior Jamie Wesztergom scored her third goal of the day on a free position shot with 50 seconds left to put ESU ahead by two.

Queens pulled within 14-13 with 11 seconds left in the first overtime on a goal by Brittany Philip (four goals), but the Warriors controlled nearly all of the possession in the second three-minute overtime period until a turnover with 45 seconds left. Kelley Duffey (two goals, six assists) had Queens' final offensive chance but was turned away by ESU sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Simms, who was making her first career start.

ESU never trailed and led 9-6 at halftime, but Queens came back to make the score 10-9 with 24 minutes remaining in regulation. O'Hara scored her third goal with 17:24 left for an 11-9 lead, but Duffey scored with 10:39 left and assisted on the game-tying goal by Enna Saffos less than a minute later.

The Warriors regained the lead on a goal by senior Lindsey Moyer, assisted by Bradley, and Queens tied it back up at 12-all when Caitlin O'Rourke converted on a pass by Duffey with 8:08 left.

Both teams managed six shots over the final eight minutes, including two in the final five seconds for the Warriors, before going to overtime – ESU's first overtime contest since an 11-10 loss to Bloomsburg in the 2000 PSAC championship game.

Wesztergom's three goals gave her the fifth hat trick of her career, while O'Hara picked up where she left off in 2009. She had nine hat tricks as a sophomore, finishing second on the team with 35 goals, and five as a freshman.

Bradley had 32 goals and a team-high 19 assists last season and had a goal and three assists to open the 2010 campaign. Junior Michelle Mangiaruga, ESU's top scorer with 47 goals and 12 assists last year, added a goal and two assists.

Bradley, Mangiaruga and sophomore Laura Riegel (one goal) were all first team All-PSAC East selections last season. Riegel and Wesztergom both had six ground balls, freshman Jennifer Kelly had five ground balls and freshman Ali Green scored her first career goal.

Simms made 10 saves while playing all 66 minutes in her first career action for the Warriors, who will travel to Belmont, N.C. to take on Belmont-Abbey on Wednesday.
