BLOOMSBURG – East Stroudsburg University's women's tennis team upset West Virginia Wesleyan, 5-4, to highlight the Warriors' performance on Saturday at the Bloomsburg Duals.
ESU (13-8) knocked off the Bobcats, ranked No. 5 in the ITA Atlantic Region, in their first match of the day after winning the first two doubles pairings and three of the top four singles matches.
Charleston, the No. 4 team in the region, beat the Warriors women's team 5-0 in their second match. The men fell 5-0 to WV Wesleyan (Atlantic No. 2) and 7-0 to Queens, N.Y. (East No. 2) in their two matches.

Marissa Tanner posted an 8-3 win over Marcela Torres and Maisa Shigematsu at No. 2. WV Wesleyan took the third doubles match, 8-2.
In singles, Kaufman upset Andreini, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 1 and D'Ambrosia came back from a set down for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Torres at No. 2. Freshman Alex Santoro posted a straight set 6-3, 6-3, win over Samantha Coral at No. 4.
Shcherbakova earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Ferrigno at No. 2 singles and WV Wesleyan used its depth for a pair of wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, but the Warriors' pair of doubles wins was enough to earn the 5-4 victory over one of the top teams in the region.
Charleston picked up all three doubles matches in its match-up with the Warriors' women's squad, 8-3 at No. 1, 8-2 at No. 2 and 8-1 at No. 3. The Golden Eagles secured the win with singles victories at No. 3 and No. 6.
ESU's men faced an uphill battle against WV Wesleyan (15-2) and Queens (14-2) as they fell to 4-13 on the season. All three doubles matches vs. Queens were competitive – 8-4, 8-5 and 8-4 – but the Knights posted all four of their singles victories in straight sets.
Both squads host Chesnut Hill on Sunday, with the match being played at Stroudsburg High School.
