WEST CHESTER – Freshman
Karen Cash placed fourth as East Stroudsburg University opened its spring 2010 women's golf schedule at the Edwin Cottrell Invitational, hosted by West Chester University, on Sunday and Monday at the Penn Oaks Golf Course.
Cash had rounds of 79 and 88 to finish with a two-day total of 167 on the par 71, 5,846-yard course. The freshman was the medalist in two of ESU's three events in the fall, winning the Clarion Invitational and Lancaster Intercollegiate Classic.
Junior
Becky Benner was 18th and freshmen
Alycia Jones and
Regan Zimmerman were 22nd and 25th, respectively. Benner had rounds of 105 and 102 and Jones carded a 95 on Sunday.
ESU was fourth in the five-team field, with the top four rounds for each team scored on both days. Concord (W.V.) won the tournament by 36 strokes over Mercyhurst, who produced medalist Evann Parker (78-81-159). Parker edged Concord's Nicole Shaw (79-81-160) by one stroke.
The Warriors will host the ESU Invitational on April 17-18 at Water Gap Country Club and compete at the PSAC Championships in Hershey the following week in their final two events this spring.
