EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to rally for a 3-2 victory in the second game to split a PSAC East softball doubleheader with Shippensburg on Tuesday afternoon at Zimbar Field.
Left-hander Dana Ward threw a three-hitter in Shippensburg's 5-0 win in the first game. Ward took a no-hitter into the fifth inning of both games and gave up four hits in the first 12 innings of the doubleheader before ESU rallied to salvage the split.
The Warriors had three hits and capitalized on three errors in the home half of the sixth. Junior

Julia Collins drove in the tying run with an infield single that scored junior 2B
Jamie Fisher, who singled earlier in the inning. Collins entered the game in the top of the sixth after junior

Monahan gave up a one-out single in the seventh but didn't allow the runner to advance to finish the game as the Warriors (15-20) improved to 5-5 in the PSAC East.
Shippensburg (12-20, 1-7) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on singles by Jill Mullan and Kierstyn Darhower and a triple by Hope Cornell, but managed just two more hits on the afternoon. Monahan threw her 10th complete game of the season and gave up five hits, one walk and struck out five. She was also 3-for-4 at the plate, with a pinch-hit single in game one and a 2-for-3 effort in the second game.
In the first game, Shippensburg had 13 hits off senior
Jackie Battaglino, including 3-for-4 games by Cornell and Courtney Steele. Cornell had a two-out RBI infield single in the first and Steele hit a two-run homer in a three-run fourth inning for the Raiders. Ship scored its final run on a single by Kiley Abersold in the seventh.
Ward tossed a pair of complete games for Shippensburg and didn't allow an earned run on seven hits in 13 innings of work. She struck out nine and walked two on the afternoon. ESU's pitchers broke up both no-hitters with singles with one out in the fifth.
The Warriors have a pair of non-conference doubleheaders on their schedule in the next four days, playing at Philadelphia University on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. and hosting Mercyhurst on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Zimbar Field.
