EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University freshman
Jennifer Kelly has earned a spot on the WomensLacrosse.com Division II All-Rookie team for the 2010 season, it was announced Tuesday.
Kelly (Roslyn/Abington), a second team All-PSAC East selection, started 14 games at defender and is the Warriors' second All-Rookie selection in as many years, joining
Laura Riegel who was selected as a defender last season.
She was second on the team with 21 caused turnovers and had 33 ground balls and 10 draw controls as an immediate contributor for the Warriors, starting the first eight games of the year before missing two weeks due to injury. She had a season-high four caused turnovers against nationally-ranked West Chester a week after she returned and was often asked to mark the opponents' best player.
Kelly's arrival at ESU allowed head coach
Lynne Elphick to move Riegel to the midfield for her sophomore season, where she led the Warriors with 54 ground balls and also had 16 goals and five assists.
Kelly and Riegel are among 11 returning starters for the 2011 season and are joined by four All-PSAC East selections,
Molly O'Hara,
Michelle Mangiaruga,
Christine Bradley and
Brittany Bissell, who are all rising seniors. O'Hara was the PSAC East Athlete of the Year and Mangiaruga was named to the IWLCA All-Region second team.
