Devon Miniscalco scored the go-ahead goal with 30 minutes left and senior midfielder
Sarah Rothrock added an insurance goal in the 79th minute as East Stroudsburg University beat Lock Haven, 3-1, for its first PSAC win of the season on Friday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Sophomore forward
Bridget Connell scored ESU's first goal with three seconds left in the first half on a header off a corner kick taken by junior midfielder
Megan Keiser. Lock Haven responded with its only goal seven minutes into the second half by Madison Taylor before the Warriors reclaimed the lead eight minutes later.
Miniscalco's goal was her third of the season and came after a low, hard shot on goal by senior forward
Kailyn Buckley that was saved by Lock Haven goalkeeper Dana Wozniak, who replaced starter Hayley Zinn in the second half. Wozniak also saved Miniscalco's first shot before the junior midfielder collected her 15th career goal on the rebound.
Rothrock scored her third career goal to put the game away with less than 12 minutes left as the Warriors improved to 2-2-1 (1-2 PSAC). Lock Haven took its second loss of the season to fall to 3-2 (1-2).
Junior
Melissa Myers made five saves for ESU, which outshot the Bald Eagles, 18-14. Both teams reached double figures in shots in the second half. Zinn made two saves in the opening 45 minutes while Wozniak was credited with five saves in the second half.
ESU returns to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. start against visiting Slippery Rock on the second week of PSAC play.
