HOLMDEL, N.J. – Junior Greg Laraia and sophomore Rose Mascoli, the defending PSAC Runners of the Week, led East Stroudsburg University at the 16th Annual Monmouth Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Holmdel Park.

The duo was recognized for their performances at last week's season-opening meet at Fordham, and they followed up with strong performances to lead the Warriors' finishers on Saturday.

ESU's men easily outdistanced Kutztown for the top team score among Division II and III schools, with five of the top nine spots in the college division category for 26 points, well ahead of Kutztown's 53. On the women's side, Kutztown edged ESU, 32-35.

Laraia was eighth in a field of 107 runners and was the top non-Division I runner in ESU's meet for the second straight week. He ran the 5 mile course in 26:54.9 and was followed by sophomore Amr Aldeen (10th, 27:01.8), sophomore Jared Wilson (29th), senior Chris Zadroga (34th) and freshman James Ward (47th).

Mascoli placed fifth of 113 runners to pace the Warriors' women in 18:49.6 on the 5k course. Sophomore Corinne Fitzgerald was 13th, with senior Jonna Trexler (27th), freshman Kim Lowry (30th) and sophomore Cassandra Lacorazza (33rd) running in a tight pack in the first third of the field.

ESU will be away from competition next weekend and returns to the course on Saturday, Oct. 2 with its annual trip to Salisbury, Md. for the Don Cathcart Invitational.
