Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior back Kayla Cilenti scored the game-tying goal in the first half and senior forward Jessica Frantz found the cage for the winning goal with less than 12 minutes left as East Stroudsburg University beat C.W. Post, 2-1, in the PSAC East field hockey opener for both schools on Tuesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Frantz continued her outstanding start as the leading scorer in Division II, scoring her fifth game-winning goal of the season as the Warriors improved to 6-0. She scored multiple goals in the first five games and entered the week with 15 goals, seven more than the second-most in the country.

Cilenti scored her fourth goal of the year on a penalty corner with 12 minutes left in the first half to tie the score at 1-1, assisted by senior midfielder Amanda McGuire and sophomore back Mical Fink.

Six of Cilenti's 10 career goals have come against C.W. Post, including four in one game, all off penalty corners, during her sophomore year.

Amanda Nann gave C.W. Post (4-1, 0-1) a 1-0 lead 7:26 into the game, but C.W. Post managed just 10 shots in the game and forced ESU senior goalkeeper Maureen Ordnung to make just two saves. Nann was second behind Frantz with 1.75 goals per game (seven goals in four games) coming into the contest.

Cortney Colern made 10 saves for C.W. Post and faced 18 shots and 12 penalty corners. The Pioneers threatened late in the game, but Carlee Dragon's shot went just wide of the cage with a minute left.

ESU's 6-0 start is tied for the second-best in school history. The Warriors, ranked No. 4 in Division II, travel to Mansfield for a non-conference game on Saturday in their second meeting with the Mounties in 11 days. Frantz scored five goals in a 9-4 win at Whitenight Field last Wednesday.
