ERIE – Paige McDowell scored both goals, one on either side of halftime, as Mercyhurst defeated East Stroudsburg University, 2-0, in PSAC women's soccer on Wednesday afternoon.

McDowell opened the scoring on an assist from Molly Marsh with four minutes left in the first half, then scored 13:02 into the second half to give the Lakers (6-4, 3-4) a 2-0 lead. The junior leads Mercyhurst with eight goals this season.

Rachel Griepsma made seven saves to post the shutout for Mercyhurst. Junior goalkeeper Melissa Myers tied her career-high with nine saves for ESU, which was outshot 21-14.

The Warriors will make the trek back across the state and host Gannon – located three miles from Mercyhurst – on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
