EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University received 20 points from its upper weights and freshman Jordan Toledo gave the Warriors the lead for good with a decision at 133 pounds to defeat American International, 27-21, in their home opener on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.

ESU trailed 15-0 through the first three bouts in a match that began at 149 pounds before redshirt senior Jeff Jacobs (174), redshirt freshman Brendan McKeown (184), redshirt junior Ed Ebewo (197) and sophomore Will Weaver (285) posted four straight wins – three by bonus points – to take a 20-15 lead.

After the lineup turned over with a forfeit at 125, Toledo notched a big 8-2 decision against Zach Ziobro at 133 and redshirt junior Adam Hluschak sealed the victory with a 14-5 major decision at 141.

Jacobs earned his 50th career win and improved to 13-6 overall, 9-2 in duals, with a 2-1 decision at 174 to put the Warriors on the board. He handed Jason Pagan just his second loss of the season as the Yellow Jackets' 174-pounder fell to 9-2.

McKeown started the run of bonus-point decisions with a 17-2 technical fall at 184, and Ebewo (3:27) and Weaver (4:43) both decked their opponents in the second period to give the Warriors a five-point advantage.

Toledo took the mat with ESU trailing 21-20 but controlled Ziobro most of the way in improving to 8-4 on the season. The Pleasant Valley product returned to the mat after missing the last four duals, and Hluschak closed out the match with his third major decision and 10th bonus point win of the season.

Hluschak (19-11), Weaver (19-12), McKeown (17-12), Ebewo (14-8) and Jacobs (13-6) give the Warriors five wrestlers with records well above .500 as they enter their final five duals of the season.

The next three duals will be at home against Shippensburg, Lycoming and Delaware Valley before taking on Kutztown and Binghamton.
