KUTZTOWN – Kutztown finished the game on an 18-5 run over the final four minutes to pull away from East Stroudsburg University for a 69-52 win in PSAC East women's basketball on Saturday afternoon at Keystone Arena.
Melissa McQuade scored 30 points, 11 in the closing run, to become Kutztown's school record holder with 1,436 career points. She passed Amy Wahl, who scored 1,434 points from 1995-99, with two free throws with 56 seconds left and was 9-for-18 from the field, 4-for-8 from the three-point line and 8-for-11 at the foul line. She also had 10 rebounds and became Kutztown's top rebounder in a loss at West Chester on Wednesday.
ESU (4-12, 1-3) was led by 12 points each from freshman guard

Brittany McClain, and junior guard
Cyara Woodridge had 11 points in her first action since the season opener at Clarion.
The Warriors survived a 13-2 run by Kutztown (9-7, 2-2) to start the game and led 15-14 after McClain hit two three-pointers, Veres made another and sophomore forward
Mia Waring (four points, nine rebounds) scored to give ESU the lead.
Veres hit a jumper and assisted on a bucket by Woodridge to bring ESU within 20-19 after McQuade scored the next six points to put Kutztown back in front, but the Warriors were unable to recapture the lead and the Golden Bears scored the final seven points of the first half to lead 33-24 at intermission.
In the second half, Kutztown built two 12-point leads in the first six minutes around a 7-0 run by the Warriors. ESU came right back with another spurt, this time scoring nine straight points with freshman forward

Kutztown went ahead 47-40 before ESU pulled within four points on three occasions, the final time closing the margin to 51-47 on a driving layup by junior guard
Jennifer Scherer with 4:14 left. The Golden Bears came back with a 9-0 run before a three-pointer by Woodridge, but the Warriors couldn't cut any further into the deficit and Kutztown was 11-for-12 at the line in the last 2:40, including a 6-for-6 mark by McQuade.
ESU had eight players see at least 17 minutes of action with all eight getting in the scoring column. Hill had four points, eight rebounds, four steals and a block in a team-high 33 minutes and Woodridge played 21 minutes and had five rebounds, a block and a steal to go with her 11 points.
Ashley Wood had 12 points, Andrea Sisson scored 10 and Steph Zewe had eight points and 13 rebounds for Kutztown. The Golden Bears were 28-for-35 from the foul line, while ESU got to the stripe just four times, making two. ESU made 22 field goals and shot 32.4 percent, compared to 18 field goals and a 37.5 field goal percentage for Kutztown.
ESU hosts Millersville (13-3, 3-1), the PSAC East preseason favorite and defending regular season champion, on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Warriors will play at Koehler Fieldhouse for the first time since a 64-50 win over Cheyney in their divisional opener on January 12.
