ESU Wrestling Posts 28-13 Win over Lycoming

EAST STROUDSBURG – Freshman Jordan Toledo (133) and sophomore Will Weaver (285) had second-period pins and East Stroudsburg University won seven of the nine bouts that were contested to earn a 28-13 win over Lycoming College on Monday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Warriors' four heaviest weight classes – 174 through 285 – improved to 36-4 in the last 10 duals after redshirt junior Thad Frick opened the night with a 10-6 decision at 165 pounds. Redshirt senior Jeff Jacobs had a 6-2 decision at 174, junior James Gonzalez had an 11-3 major decision at 184 and redshirt junior Ed Ebewo won an 11-6 decision at 197 before Weaver pinned Chris Geisel with eight seconds left in the second period to give the Warriors a 19-0 advantage on the scoreboard.

Toledo pinned Terrell Nixon 4:04 into their 133-pound bout for his first career pin, improving to 9-5 overall and 7-3 in duals as the only true freshman to see dual action for the Warriors this season.

Redshirt junior Adam Hluschak earned a 5-3 decision at 141 before Lycoming won the final two bouts. Isaiah Britton improved to 20-3 on the year for Lycoming with a 14-5 major decision over redshirt freshman Luke Grassi at 149, and Eric Grecco posted a 7-2 decision against senior Jesse Dunn at 157.

In ESU's last 10 duals, Jacobs is 10-0 at 174, redshirt freshman Brendan McKeown (7-0) and Gonzalez (3-0) have locked down the 184-pound weight class, Ebewo is 8-2 at 197 and Weaver is 8-1 at 285.

The Warriors are 7-9 on the season entering their final three duals and are off until Saturday, Feb. 12 when they host Delaware Valley at 7 p.m. The last two duals will be on the road with a trip to PSAC rival Kutztown on Feb. 15 and Division I Binghamton on Feb. 18.
