EAST STROUDSBURG – Sophomore forward
Gabrielle Seibert scored 20 minutes into the game and junior forward
Lauren Ventrella added her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the second half as East Stroudsburg University notched a 2-0 shutout of Slippery Rock in non-conference field hockey on Saturday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
Seibert's goal, the second of her career, was assisted by sophomore forward
Brielle Kessel. Ventrella scored with just over 13 minutes left in regulation, assisted by junior midfielder
Mallory Pope. Ventrella had her 10th career goal and Pope had her 10th career assist on the play.
Senior goalkeeper
Maureen Ordnung had four saves for her first solo shutout of the season, the ninth of her career and her 13th overall shutout. Courtney Lee also had four saves for Slippery Rock (3-9).
ESU outshot the Rock 18-7 and held a 10-1 edge in the first half. The Warriors also held the penalty corner advantage, 11-3, as they improved to 4-7 with their second straight victory. ESU won its 21st consecutive game against Slippery Rock and is 31-5-1 in the all-time series.
The Warriors wore pink jerseys as part of their “Think Pink” weekend and will host Limestone (S.C.) on Sunday at 1 p.m. in their third straight game this weekend. They will also honor their 2001 NCAA Division II runner-up team as part of Sunday's game.
