HERSHEY – Freshman
Kayla Grossi was East Stroudsburg University's top finisher with a two-day total of 194 as the Warriors finished seventh of eight schools at the PSAC Women's Golf Championship, which was contested Saturday and Sunday at Hershey Country Club's East Course.
Grossi had rounds of 96 and 98 for her lowest two-round score this fall and finished 31st of 38 golfers. Junior
Alycia Jones had a second-round 95 to shoot 199 for the championship, junior
Regan Zimmerman shot 95 on Saturday and posted 200 for the weekend, and freshman
Malene Frost ended at 204.
Jones and Zimmerman, both three-year members of the ESU women's golf program, had the second-lowest rounds of their careers with their matching 95's.
Gannon, led by medalist Amanda Teodorsson (153), posted a 13-shot margin of victory over defending champion California, 634 to 647. Kutztown shot 669, followed by Mercyhurst (689), West Chester (699), Clarion (724), ESU (797) and Millersville (835). ESU was seventh of seven schools in each of the last three PSAC Championships.
The Warriors will resume the 2011-12 golf season in the spring. The schedule will be posted as soon as it is available.
