EAST STROUDSBURG – Preseason All-PSAC West pick Amy Johns scored 22 points and Stephanie Michael added 18 to lead California to an 83-51 win over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC women's basketball on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Senior guard Cyara Woodridge scored 14 points and sophomore guard Andrea Veres had 12 for ESU, which shot 52.8 percent (19-for-36) but had 39 turnovers. California shot 44.6 percent (33-for-74) with 14 turnovers.

The Vulcans (5-3, 4-2) led from start to finish, taking an early 10-2 lead before ESU (3-5, 1-5) scored four of the next six points on a jumper by Woodridge and a layup by freshman forward Jessica Martin to get within 12-6. A three-point play by freshman forward Kelsey Murray (seven points) made it 19-12 with just under 11 minutes left, but California eventually built an 18-point lead, its largest of the half, to go into the locker room with a 45-27 advantage.

Veres scored 10 points in the first half for the second straight night, with the Warriors coming off a 46-45 loss to IUP on Friday. Woodridge added nine in the first half, shooting 4-for-5 from the field, as ESU shot 55.0 percent (11-for-20) in the opening period but had 21 turnovers.

Johns scored 14 points in the first half on 6-for-7 shooting despite playing just nine minutes due to foul trouble. She shot 9-for-11 for the game, coming back with eight points in the second half, and Michael scored 11 of her 18 points after intermission.

Freshman guard Ryann Fiascki made her first career start for ESU and had season-highs with nine points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals.
