EAST STROUDSBURG – Megan Stewart had 20 points and seven assists to lead West Chester to a 71-58 win over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC East women's basketball on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Stewart, the PSAC leader in assists, led a West Chester (17-5, 8-2) offense that shot 47.5 percent from the field. Allison Hostetter scored 19 points, going 9-for-12 from the field, and Alex Lennon had 14 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three blocks.
The Warriors (5-17, 2-8) put three players in double figures. Sophomore forward

Jennifer Scherer and
Cyara Woodridge scored 11 points each. Freshman forward
Nicole Hill had eight points and a career-high 10 rebounds and freshman guard
Andrea Veres posted eight points, four rebounds, five assists and four steals.
ESU played well in stretches against one of the top teams in the PSAC East, but Stewart, Lennon and the Golden Rams proved to be too much. Lennon scored six straight points after ESU pulled within 18-16 midway through the first half and the Golden Rams took a 32-25 lead into intermission.
West Chester eventually built a 20-point lead in the first six-plus minutes of the second half, then pushed the margin to 25 with 2:46 left on buckets by Lennon, Stewart and Hostetter.
The Warriors cut into the deficit over the final three minutes led by Woodridge, who was 6-for-8 from the foul line and scored eight of her 11 points late in the game to reach double figures for the seventh straight game.
Veres also hit a three-pointer, assisted on a layup by Hill and had a steal that led to a pair of free throw attempts for Woodridge and ultimately an offensive rebound and putback for the Warriors' final field goal in a 13-1 run to close the game.
ESU travels to Millersville on Wednesday for its next-to-last road trip of the 2010-11 season. The Warriors fell to the defending PSAC East champions, 62-59, in their first meeting this season.
