Ed Ebewo advanced to the second round of consolations in the 197-pound bracket with a 3-1 sudden victory decision over Lucas Munkelwitz of St. Cloud State (Minn.) on Friday at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships at Nebraska-Kearney.

Jeff Jacobs was knocked out of the tournament with two losses, ending his senior year with a 19-10 record and the Super Region 1 title at 174 pounds. Jacobs, ranked No. 7 in Division II, lost a 10-3 decision to No. 6 Luke Rynish (Wisconsin-Parkside), last year's runner-up, and a 7-4 decision to Caleb Kociemba of host Nebraska-Kearney.
Ebewo (23-10) will wrestle for All-America status on Saturday morning against No. 6 Luke McPeek of Adams State after surviving his bout with Munkelwitz, a three-time national qualifier. Munkelwitz escaped in the second period and Ebewo escaped in the third period for the only scoring of regulation before Ebewo had a takedown in the first 30 seconds of the sudden victory period.
Ebewo dropped a 3-2 decision to No. 4-ranked Matt Baker of defending national champion Nebraska-Omaha in his opening round match.
McPeek posted a 10-8 decision over No. 7 Pat Mahan (Minnesota-Mankato) in his first match before falling to No. 8 Mitch Knapp (West Liberty), 9-3, in the quarterfinals. McPeek was an All-American last year, placing sixth while wrestling at New Mexico Highlands.
Jacobs finishes his career at ESU with a 56-41 overall record and 31-20 record in duals in three years after transferring from Old Dominion. He had nine pins, one technical fall and one major decision among his 19 victories this season and 15 pins, one technical fall and seven major decisions in his career. He was 22-14 last season at 165 pounds and was a two-time PSAC placewinner.
