HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Wingate (N.C.) won every match in straight sets to post a pair of 9-0 victories over East Stroudsburg University in non-conference tennis on Monday in South Carolina.

The Bulldogs' women's team, ranked No. 39 in Division II, improved to 8-1 and dropped ESU to 3-2 on the season. The Warriors had a 6-3 win over Catholic (D.C.) to open their spring break trip on Sunday.

In the men's match, junior Mark Covert pushed his opponent at No. 5 singles to a first-set tiebreaker before falling 7-6, 6-1. Wingate won all but four games in the other five singles matches to improve to 5-3 on the year.

ESU is away from action on Tuesday and takes on Chestnut Hill on Wednesday in the third of its four matches at Hilton Head.
