MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer scored six of the final eight goals, including the last three of the game, to rally for a 14-13 win over visiting East Stroudsburg University in non-conference women's lacrosse on Wednesday morning in North Carolina.
Seniors
Molly O'Hara (five goals, one assist) and
Michelle Mangiaruga (three goals, three assists) both had six points for ESU, which led 9-5 at halftime before Pfeiffer scored the first three goals of the second half to close within one.
Mangiaruga netted a pair of unassisted goals to give ESU (1-2) an 11-8 advantage before Pfeiffer scored three more goals to tie the game at 11-all. Junior
Molly McLenigan scored her first goal of the year to put the Warriors ahead 12-11 with just under 15 minutes left and O'Hara scored her fifth goal of the game a minute later, but the Falcons controlled the game down the stretch.
Liz Melesh scored the game-winning goal with 4:19 remaining to give Pfeiffer (4-2) its only lead of the game. The Falcons won the ensuing draw control and held possession for two minutes before turning it over, but freshman
Danielle Marceca's bid for the game-tying shot hit the crossbar and Pfeiffer forced a turnover before running the final 1:30 off the clock.
Melesh, Alex Cook and Jessica Moulton all scored three goals for Pfeiffer and Natalie Marvin scored a team-high four goals. Kaitlin Booth made eight saves.
O'Hara had her sixth career game with at least five goals for ESU and moved into sixth in school history with 131 career goals. Last year's PSAC East Player of the Year is 10 goals away from moving into sole possession of second in career goals for the Warriors. She is also in range to enter the top five in career points in the next two weeks.
Mangiaruga had her first hat trick of the season and the 21st of her career and has 108 career goals for the Warriors. She also tied her career-high with three assists and is three points away from becoming the 12th player with 150 career points in school history.

Jamie Wesztergom scored two goals for the second straight game and McLenigan, junior
Laura Riegel and sophomore
Ali Green also found the net for ESU. Junior Maure Peerrymond and freshmen
Nicole Miller and Marceca all added assists.
Sophomore
Katie Zollo had 14 saves for the second straight game to tie her career-high. Pfeiffer held a 34-33 edge in shots and ESU committed five more turnovers, 23-18.
The Warriors will look for their second win of the season on Friday at Belmont Abbey. They opened the season with a 10-7 win at Georgian Court last Wednesday and dropped a 16-9 decision at No. 6 Le Moyne last Friday.
