PHILADELPHIA – Seniors Will Norris and Zach Ontell earned singles wins in their final collegiate matches as East Stroudsburg University posted a 5-4 win over USP, ranked No. 7 in the ITA East Region, on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Ontell was the Warriors' lone double winner, teaming with junior Mark Covert for an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles and recording a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles, and juniors Andrew Makos and Jared Rosenberg had an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles to give ESU a 2-1 lead going into the singles matches.

Norris (No. 1) and junior Dalton Barton (No. 6) both won third-set tiebreakers in a pair of decisive singles matches to give the Warriors the victory. Norris had a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) win over Alvaro Vargas at the top spot and Barton defeated William Metz, 6-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) at the final spot in the lineup.

USP won in straight sets at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4. Rosenberg took a 6-4, 6-3 loss to David Kazakevich, Makos fell 6-3, 6-4 to Francisco Garcia and Covert lost 6-0, 6-1 to Bill Fine. Kazakevich and Vargas won USP's lone doubles point with an 8-3 victory over Norris and junior Ryan Baxter at No. 1.

Norris and Ontell both closed their careers as ESU finished the 2010-11 season with a 3-9 record.

Norris leaves ESU as a three-year starter at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, posting a career record of 42-38 in doubles and earning 26 career victories in singles. Ontell had 20 wins in both singles and doubles, playing primarily at fourth through sixth singles and second and third doubles in his four seasons for the Warriors.
