EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior Michelle Mangiaruga set a career-high in points for the second straight game, recording five goals and four assists to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 17-10 win over Shippensburg in PSAC lacrosse on Saturday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Mangiaruga followed up her eight-point effort (five goals, three assists) in a 16-9 win at Millersville on Wednesday with another outstanding offensive performance, contributing two goals and three assists as the Warriors built a 10-4 halftime lead and then scoring three goals in the second half to help them stay ahead.

Senior Molly O'Hara had four goals and an assist and freshman Nicole Miller added three goals and one assist for her first career hat trick. Junior Laura Riegel's three assists were also a career-high for ESU, which improves to 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the PSAC East with three conference games remaining.

ESU went on a 9-1 run from the 11-minute mark in the first half until the 21-minute mark of the second half, outscoring the Lady Raiders (6-6, 3-5) 7-1 to finish the first half and netting the first two goals after intermission. Mangiaruga had two goals and two assists and O'Hara and Miller both had two goals and an assist in the run.

The Warriors scored three times in the final 2:16 of the first half as freshman Sarah Studdiford found the net, Mangiaruga won the draw control and assisted on a goal by Miller 19 seconds later, and O'Hara scored with six seconds left after ESU ran most of the final two minutes off the clock.

Junior Ali Green opened the second half scoring on an assist from O'Hara and Mangiaruga scored an unassisted goal, her third of the game, to make the score 12-4. Shippensburg recovered with back-to-back goals by Katie Brewer and Karen Schnurr, but Mangiaruga scored the Warriors' next two goals to complete her five-goal game and ESU answered a 3-0 run with the final three goals of the game to secure the victory.

Junior Amanda Simms played the entire game in goal for the Warriors, making 11 saves on 30 shots. Meghan Kearney had 18 saves on 41 shots by ESU, which held a 22-11 advantage in shots in the second half before the two teams were even (19-19) in the second half.

Mangiaruga's nine points are tied for the most by an ESU player since 2004, matching Renee Maniscalco's seven-goal, two-assist effort in a 13-9 win over Shippensburg in 2008.

A two-time first team All-PSAC East selection, Mangiaruga had 10 goals and seven assists in the Warriors' two games this week, giving her 29 goals and 19 assists on the season for a team-high 48 points. Her career week moves her to seventh at ESU in career goals (131), fifth in assists (54) and sixth in points (185).

O'Hara, last year's PSAC East Player of the Year, scored four goals in both games, pushing her season total to 36 one game after becoming the first player in school history with four straight 30-goal seasons. O'Hara moved past Leah Quigley for fourth in school history with 193 career points. She is one point behind Antonia Giannopoulos for third and eight away from Megan Macauley's 201 points which rank second.

The Warriors will play three games next week, all on the road, beginning with a non-conference game at Philadelphia University on Monday. They return to PSAC play with a trip to western Pennsylvania to play Slippery Rock on Friday and Edinboro on Saturday.
