BLOOMSBURG – East Stroudsburg University improved to 4-1 in the PSAC East and secured a berth in the conference women's tennis tournament with a pair of shutout victories over Shippensburg and Cheyney on Saturday at Bloomsburg University.

The Warriors qualified for the PSAC playoffs for the second time in three seasons and finish their PSAC East schedule on Sunday at Bloomsburg with a match-up against the Huskies, who are 4-0 in conference action.

ESU's men finished their PSAC schedule with a 6-3 loss to Mercyhurst and an 8-1 setback to Bloomsburg, ending league play with an 0-5 record. A non-conference match on Monday against Caldwell will be followed by the Bloomsburg Invitational next weekend in central Pennsylvania.

The women's team received contributions from every player on the roster on Saturday to post a 9-0 win over Shippensburg and 8-0 win against Cheyney (sixth singles was not contested).

Senior Amanda Kaufman had a pair of wins at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles with sophomore Rabecca Lausch and seniors Katie D'Ambrosia and Jamie Ferrigno won both of their matches at No. 1 doubles and had singles victories against Shippensburg.

Lausch won at No. 4 singles against Shippensburg and moved up to No. 2 for the match against Cheyney. Freshman Annie Vega and graduate student Jessica Wilson also had two singles wins on the day and posted a victory at No. 3 doubles vs. Shippensburg, and freshman Amy Adams had a singles win against Cheyney.

D'Ambrosia and Ferrigno improved to 9-5 on the season in doubles and 4-1 in conference play. Kaufman and Lausch are 8-3 overall and also sport a 4-1 conference record.

In singles, D'Ambrosia is 8-3 overall, 6-1 in duals and 4-0 against the PSAC East at the No. 2 spot in the lineup, and Ferrigno is 6-3 overall and 2-1 vs. the PSAC East at No. 3. Kaufman has a 7-9 overall record, 6-5 dual record and is 4-1 in conference action at No. 1 singles.

Four players won matches on the men's side. Senior Zach Ontell and junior Dalton Barton had a 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles and earned victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, in the match against Mercyhurst. Juniors Jared Rosenberg and Andrew Makos had an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles against Bloomsburg.
