TURLOCK, Calif. – Sophomore Rose Mascoli shattered her school record by 45 seconds and finished third in the nation in the 10,000m run on the first night of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday at Cal State-Stanislaus.

Mascoli ran a time of 33:54.74 over 25 laps to become ESU's fifth woman to earn Division II All-America honors in the 10,000 and post the best-ever finish by an ESU women's runner at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

She leveled her time of 34:39.13 that she ran to finish second at the Penn Relays and has knocked 1:59 off the previous school record that stood entering the season, a time of 35:53.20 run by Georgianna Messinger in 1986.

Mascoli adds All-America status in the 10,000 to her All-America honors in cross country, where she placed 21st at the NCAA Championships in the fall. She will also run in the 5000m to close the meet on Saturday and can become ESU's first women's athlete to earn All-America status in two events at the same championship.

She finished behind Sarah Porter of Western Washington, who ran 33:17.39 to take seven seconds off the meet record, and Lauren Kleppein of Western State, who ran 33:47.06. The PSAC had the fourth-place finisher in Elicia Anderson of Millersville (34:17.31) and was also represented by Tina Yi of Edinboro (10th, 34:41.10), Katrina Spratford of Shippensburg (13th, 35:48.45) and Lindsey Lambert of Lock Haven (15th, 36:26.98).

Senior Negus Graham ran in his final collegiate race in the prelims of the men's 400m dash. A three-time All-American, Graham finished 12th in the field of 18 runners with a time of 48.13 seconds. He was fifth in his heat and 24-hundredths out of a top eight time and a spot in the finals.

Graham finishes his two-year career at ESU with four individual and four career school records, five individual and four relay PSAC championships, and is one of six three-time All-Americans in men's track and field. He was the men's track MVP at the last three PSAC Championships and the men's overall MVP at both championships this season.

Sophomore Corinne Fitzgerald also finished her season in the prelims of the 3000m steeplechase, placing 15th with a time of 11:10.60 with the top 12 athletes advancing to the final. She was ESU's first-ever women's runner to compete in the steeplechase at the NCAA Championships.

The Warriors will have three athletes compete on Saturday – senior Lynn Mayer in the women's high jump, junior Josh Hontz in the men's javelin and Mascoli in the women's 5000m.
