KUTZTOWN – Senior Ian Melhorn and freshman Danielle Smith swept the men's and women's 55m dash and 200m, respectively, to lead 11 individual winners for East Stroudsburg University at the Kutztown Invitational on Friday night.

Melhorn won the 55 in 6.53 and the 200 in 22.58, while Smith ran times of 7.32 to win the 55 and 26.51 in the 200. Smith clocked 7.31 in the prelims to set ESU's freshman record in the event, breaking the standard of 7.34 set by Cheryl Griffin in 1998.

Other individual winners for ESU's women were sophomore Nicole Brown in the 500m (1:20.74), junior Corinne Fitzgerald in the 1000m (3:09.13), junior Rose Mascoli in the 3000m (10:25.03), junior Lauren Ventrella in the 55m hurdles (8.65 – 8.63 prelims), senior Devyn Emrich in the high jump (5-5) and junior Lauren Hannan in the triple jump (34-1 1/2).

The 4x800m relay of Fitzgerald and sophomores Kim Wernerspach, Chelsea Morales and Kim Lowry won with a time of 10:06.28.

Joining Melhorn with victories on the men's side were sophomore Keith Parker-Washington in the 500m (1:08.12), sophomore James Romano in the 3000m (9:09.51) and senior Dan Johnson in the high jump (6-4 3/4). Junior Kyle Soden, who hit the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard with a mark of 6-8 3/4 at Lehigh on December 10, was second to Johnson on jumps at 6-4 3/4.

Mascoli, an All-American in the 5K and 10K during last year's outdoor season, won the 3K and was second in the mile in her indoor debut for the Warriors. She was a member of the ESU swimming team as a distance freestyler the last two winters.

Travis Toth broke his own freshman record in the weight throw with a mark of 47-9 1/4, surpassing the mark of 44-5 3/4 that he set last month at Lehigh. Toth also ranks 6th on ESU's all-time top 10 and fellow freshman Mike Smith is 8th with a mark of 46-8. Toth was third and Smith was fifth in the meet.

Melhorn's time of 6.53 in the 55m dash is tied for 9th on the top 10 list.

There are four new marks on the women's top 10 list – Smith in the 55m dash (6th, 7.31), Mascoli in the 3000m (8th, 10:25.03), Hannan in the triple jump (10th, 34-1 1/2) and sophomore Theresa Horn in the pentathlon (10th, 2716 points).

The Warriors are back in action next Friday at the Mountain Hawk Invite at Lehigh.
