Warriors Fall to Gannon, No. 14 West Liberty Saturday at Super Region 1 Duals

JOHNSTOWN – Redshirt sophomore Braden Turner went 3-0 on the weekend at 157 pounds with a technical fall, decision and forfeit victory to lead East Stroudsburg University at the Super Region 1 Duals on Friday and Saturday at Pitt-Johnstown.

The Warriors followed a 30-10 win over Ohio Valley on Friday with two losses on Saturday, falling to Gannon, 44-9, and No. 14 West Liberty, 39-9 after giving up a total of seven forfeits between the two matches.

Turner won a 1-0 decision over Sam Brehm of Gannon, backing up his 3-2 decision over Brehm last Sunday at the Mid-Atlantic Duals at Ashland. He used an escape with less than a half-minute left in the third period for the only scoring of the bout.

Turner picked up a forfeit win against West Liberty and won by technical fall in the victory over Ohio Valley to improve to 19-9 on the season and 10-4 in duals.

Redshirt senior Adam Hluschak pinned Scott Bulzan of Gannon for the second time in six days, this time in 31 seconds, moving to 23-6 on the year and 11-2 in duals at 141 pounds. He recorded the fall in 15 seconds last Sunday.

Freshman Zach Jones won an 8-2 decision at 125 over West Liberty's Joe Wagstaff for the Warriors' other win of the day.

ESU returns to regional dual action on Thursday with a trip to Shippensburg. The Raiders were also 1-2 at the Super Region 1 Duals, beating UNC Pembroke and falling to No. 2 Newberry and American International.
