Friday results at Penn State National

STATE COLLEGE – East Stroudsburg University's Distance Medley Relay quartet of juniors Corinne Fitzgerald and Rose Mascoli, sophomore Kim Wernerspach and freshman Imani Rosario ran an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 12:15.04, second-fastest in school history, at the Penn State National on Friday.

The Warriors beat the provisional standard of 12:17.00 by just under two seconds on the banked track at the Ashenfelter III Indoor Track at Penn State. The time is 6.04 seconds off the school record of 12:09.00 which was set in 1997.

Fitzgerald opened with a leg of 3:49.1 in the 1200, followed Rosario in 60.9 in the 400, Wernerspach in 2:21.5 in the 800 and Mascoli at 5:01.8 in the 1600.

The Warriors finished fifth in their heat of seven schools, which included four Division I programs along with Division II Shippensburg and Cal State-Los Angeles. Shippensburg won the heat in 11:50.87.

ESU's top DMR last season, which included Wernerspach in the 1200 and Fitzgerald in the 1600, ran 12:19.45 to place third in the PSAC.
