Box Score
EAST STROUDSBURG - After a scoreless 70 minutes, Jaclyn Beasley scored 2:08 into the first overtime period to give No. 4-ranked Bloomsburg a 1-0 win over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC East field hockey on Saturday at Whitenight Field.
Bloomsburg (12-4, 6-2) held a 19-11 advantage in shots in regulation, but neither team scored until Beasley scored on the Huskies' second shot of the overtime session.
It marked ESU's second scoreless regulation of the season, and second 1-0 (OT) loss, previously falling at Millersville on Oct. 3. After going 10 years without a 1-0 (OT) game, the Warriors have played two in the last 10 days. The last time ESU played two 1-0 (OT) games in a season was 1998, winning at Rowan and losing to Catawba.
ESU and Bloomsburg played an overtime game for just the fourth time in 49 meetings. Bloomsburg improved to 44-5 in the series and won 6-4 over ESU on Sept. 22.
Senior goalkeeper
Sarah Dobroskey had six saves for ESU (6-10, 1-7) and Megan Eppley had three for Bloomsburg. The Warriors, who have two games left, will have consecutive seasons below .500 for the first time since 1986-87 after 24 straight seasons at .500 or better.
ESU, which had won two straight, is at defending national champion West Chester on Wednesday before finishing its season against Millersville next Saturday.
