EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior forward
Lauren Ventrella gave No. 10 East Stroudsburg University a first-half lead with her 10th goal of the season, but No. 6 Millersville scored just before the half and added two more in the second half for a 3-1 win in the Warriors' final game of the 2012 season on Saturday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
Ventrella scored on an assist from junior midfielder
Brielle Kessel with 7:30 left until the half before Millersville's Lauren Gerhart scored with one second left on the clock to even it at 1-1 going into intermission.
Katelyn Zapp broke the tie with a penalty stroke 17 minutes into the second half, and Megan Donlan scored with five minutes remaining for Millersville (12-6, 7-3), which is the No. 3 seed in the PSAC East in next week's PSAC Tournament and plays at Bloomsburg on Tuesday.
The two-goal margin ended a run of eight straight games decided by one goal between the schools. Millersville won the first meeting, 1-0 (OT), on Oct. 3.
Millersville had a 15-11 advantage in shots and Lauren Sotzin had eight saves. Senior
Sarah Dobroskey had five saves for ESU, which had a 10-5 advantage in penalty corners.
ESU finishes the 2012 season at 6-12 (1-9 PSAC East), its second straight season under .500 after going .500 or better for 24 consecutive years. The Warriors' six wins are their fewest since posting four wins in 1985. Ten of the Warriors' 12 losses came by two goals or less.
The Warriors had three players reach 10 goals for the first time since 2000 in sophomore
Jessica Lawville (12 goals, 3 assists), Ventrella (10 goals, 5 assists) and freshman
Ally Roth (10 goals, 8 assists). They scored 47 goals on the year, including 25 in the first five games.
Ventrella finishes her career with 23 goals and eight assists and was one of six seniors to play their final game. Other seniors, all starters, are back

Alyson Becker (9 career goals, 11 assists), back
Mical Fink, midfielder
Mallory Pope (10 goals, 14 assists) and Dobroskey. They were part of ESU's 2009 and 2010 NCAA Playoff teams.
