Annabelle Charlton had 13 kills, 10 assists and nine digs and senior outside hitter
Kaitlin Behrens had 11 kills as East Stroudsburg University fell to Lock Haven, 3-1, in PSAC East women's volleyball on Tuesday night at Mattioli Recreation Center.
ESU rallied from a 24-22 deficit to win the third set, 27-25, before Lock Haven (23-9, 15-3) won 25-16 in the fourth set to earn its fifth straight PSAC East regular season championship. LHU won the first two sets, 25-16 and 25-19.
Charlton's 13 kills were the second-most of her career and she narrowly missed her fifth triple-double of the season for the Warriors (7-19, 4-14), who finish the 2012 season on Friday night at Kutztown. Junior
Allye Preziosi added 17 assists, 12 digs and three aces.
Behrens went over 300 kills on the season (301) and is second in the PSAC with 3.92 kills per set entering the week. Freshman libero
Maddie Hutchison had 11 digs, putting her over 400 for the season (410). She came into the week seventh in the PSAC in digs per set and first among freshmen.
Gao Xuan, the three-time PSAC East Player of the Year, had 15 kills, nine digs and four aces to lead the Lady Eagles. Grace Novacek had nine kills, Bailey Farthing added eight and setter Alexa Garrity had 38 assists and eight digs.
The Warriors played at the Mattioli Recreation Center for the third time in five days after hosting Millersville and Shippensburg there on Saturday. Koehler Fieldhouse has been utilized as an emergency shelter for individuals displaced by Hurricane Sandy, operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare with voluntary assistance by the Red Cross and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA).
ESU played two matches at Koehler Fieldhouse since September 22, a stretch that included eight road and two neutral site matches from September 28 to October 16. The Warriors played six home matches at Koehler this season.
