Box Score

CHEYNEY – Junior Fayola Moise (17 points) and freshman Ryann Fiascki (16) both set career-highs, freshman Jessica Martin had 13 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks and senior Cyara Woodridge scored 12, including a half-court shot at the end of the first half, to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 77-65 win at Cheyney on Wednesday at Cope Hall.

Woodridge and Moise both scored 12 points in the first half and Woodridge's half-court shot to beat the buzzer capped a 12-0 run over the final 2:12 to give ESU a 38-21 halftime advantage. The Warriors finished with four double-figure scorers for the first time in just over a calendar year, last hitting the mark on January 30, 2011, in a 62-59 loss to Millersville.

The win moves ESU (8-11, 5-10 PSAC) into sole possession of fifth in the PSAC East, two games behind Shippensburg. Kutztown (7-14, 4-11) fell to Shippensburg, 71-57, and Mansfield (7-12, 4-11) fell at West Chester, 94-66, on Wednesday.

Moise scored 10 of ESU's first 20 points and finished the game 5-for-9 from the field, 7-for-16 from the foul line and grabbed seven rebounds after notching nine points and 14 boards, including the game-winning putback with 2.8 seconds left, in a 60-58 win over PSAC East leader West Chester on Saturday.

Fiascki, the PSAC's second-leading free throw shooter at 87.5 percent (49-for-56) entering the game, was perfect from the line in eight attempts and shot 4-for-6 from the field for her career-high 16 points.

Martin had her third double-double of the season and nearly matched her season-high of 12 rebounds in the first half, when she had four points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.

She had five blocked shots for the third time the season – the only PSAC player with more than one five-block game – and was third in the PSAC and third among Division II freshmen in blocked shots (2.4 per game) entering the week. She moved into fourth in school history with 48 blocks this season and is tied for eighth in career blocks with ESU Hall of Famer Lori Pio in just 19 career games.

Woodridge scored all 12 of her points in the first half, including eight in the last 4:08. She hit a three-pointer to put ESU ahead 26-17, then had five points in the 12-0 spurt with a runner and the half-court shot to end the period. She also finished one rebound shy of her fourth career double-double.

Sophomore guard Andrea Veres rounded out the starting five with six points, and had a four-point play with 6:18 in the second half to stretch a 62-49 lead to 66-49. Junior guard Barb Borst scored six points and hit a three-pointer in the run to finish the first half. Redshirt freshman guard Steph Cabald had two points, four assists and three steals.

Cheyney (0-19, 0-15) was led by Nadirah Brown, who had 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Aerie DeJesus had 11 points and six rebounds but shot just 2-for-16 from the field, and Linda Henderson had 10 points.

ESU shot 43.4 percent from the field and was 26-for-40 at the foul line, while Cheyney shot 33.8 percent (25.8 percent in the first half) and 14-for-20 at the line.

The Warriors travel to Kutztown for their second road game this week on Saturday. ESU beat the Golden Rams, 62-55, on January 14 at Koehler Fieldhouse.
