Amanda Kaufman won at No. 1 singles and teamed with freshman
Allison Bean for a win at No. 1 doubles as the East Stroudsburg University women's tennis program opened its spring break trip with a 6-3 loss at Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday morning.
Kaufman was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Kelsey Love in singles action and Kaufman and Bean topped Love and Ivey Tant, 9-7, in doubles. Tant edged Bean, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2 singles.
Freshman
Taylor Presby picked up ESU's other point with a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles. Presby and sophomore
Serena Gehman, a transfer from Messiah, were nipped 9-7 at No. 3 doubles.
ESU continues its trip with four matches at Hilton Head Island, S.C. over the next five days, beginning with a match-up against Fairmont State (W.V.) on Sunday.
