Second Half Pushes Georgian Court Past ESU Lacrosse, 12-5

EAST STROUDSBURG – Corinne Coyle scored four goals and three players had two goals each as Georgian Court topped East Stroudsburg University, 12-5, in non-conference lacrosse on Thursday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

The Warriors (1-2), coming off a 15-10 win over St. Thomas Aquinas on Sunday, spotted the Lions a 5-1 lead before pulling within 5-4 at halftime, but Georgian Court had a 7-1 advantage in the second half to pull away.

Senior goalkeeper Amanda Simms had a career-high 19 saves for ESU as Georgian Court held a 36-18 advantage in shots. Amanda Cathcart had seven saves for Georgian Court.

Senior midfielder Grace Gunkel, freshman midfielder Rachel Sihlanick and junior attack Sarah Ginn helped the Warriors get the game back to a one-goal margin with just under 10 minutes left in the first half, but Georgian Court limited ESU to one goal the rest of the way.

Ginn had two goals and sophomore attack Sarah Studdiford added a free position goal early in the second half.

Coyle scored two goals in each half and Olivia Rotunno, Molly McCourt and Stephanie Gallo all scored two goals apiece for Georgian Court (1-1), which lost 25-10 to Bloomsburg to open its season last week.

The Warriors, who advanced to the PSAC semifinals last season, begin conference action next Tuesday at West Chester.
