CLERMONT, Fla. – Merrimack and Minot State (N.D.) overcame one-run deficits in the seventh inning to post wins over East Stroudsburg University on the final day of the Warriors' softball trip to Florida on Friday.
Senior 1B
Brittany Zanzalari hit a grand slam as part of a five-run third inning against Merrimack, but two runs in the top of the seventh gave Merrimack a 7-6 win.
Minot State rallied from a 3-2 hole with two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-3 win in ESU's second game of the day. The Warriors (4-13) were 4-6 on their trip and begin PSAC East play in seven days, hosting Shippensburg on Friday and Millersville on Saturday next weekend at Zimbar Field.
ESU had seven hits against Merrimack, with Zanzalari going 2-for-3 with her home run in the third inning. Senior 2B

Cara McNeil all walked earlier in the inning, Stettler scored on a passed ball and the other three came home on Zanzalari's blast.
The Warriors pushed their lead to 6-3 with another run in the fourth, getting a two-out RBI single from Woods to score freshman OF
Kacie Killeen, who reached on a fielders choice. Merrimack got two runs back in the fifth to pull within 6-5 and won it with two in the seventh.
Freshman
Shaylyn Wood got the start and went 4.1 innings, allowing five runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks. She was relieved by freshman
Taylor Webb, who went the final 2.2 innings with four strikeouts, one walk, two runs and three hits.
Against Minot State, all three of ESU's runs came on a home run by senior C
Alex Schubert in the fourth inning. Schubert went deep after Gieringer singled and Zanzalari walked to open the frame.
Minot State took a 1-0 lead in the third and got back within 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth before winning it in the bottom of the seventh. Tiffany Friesen and Stacy Fournier both had two-out RBI singles after an ESU error to start the inning.
Sophomore
Laura Suits threw 3.2 innings of three-hit relief without allowing an earned run but took the loss for ESU. Freshman
Marianne Wright, who threw a pair of complete game victories this week, gave up two runs on eight hits in 3.0 innings as the starter.
