ESU Falls to No. 7 West Chester in PSAC Lacrosse Opener

WEST CHESTER – Tori Dugan and Erin Oczkowski scored five goals each as No. 7-ranked West Chester remained undefeated with a 19-6 win over East Stroudsburg University in the PSAC lacrosse opener for both schools on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior attack Sarah Ginn scored four goals and senior midfielder Kelsey Pfautz and freshman midfielder Rachel Sihlanick also scored for ESU (1-3, 0-1). Senior midfielder Maure Perrymond had two assists.

Nicole Pyle and Jamie Dugan both scored three goals each to join Dugan and Oczkowski as the top goal scorers for West Chester (3-0, 1-0), which was the PSAC runner-up and an NCAA Division II semifinalist last season. Lauren Glassey had a goal and four assists and Dugan added three assists to go with her five goals.

Ginn scored the game's first goal 50 seconds into the contest before West Chester scored the next five, including three by Oczkowski, to take a 5-1 lead just over eight minutes into the game.

Sihlanick broke the run before the Golden Rams went on another 5-0 spurt to propel them to an 11-3 halftime lead.

Senior goalkeeper Amanda Simms had seven saves in 44:13 in goal for ESU. Junior Katie Zollo had one save in 15:47.

For West Chester, Jess Henderson went the whole way in goal and had eight saves on 16 ESU shots.

The Warriors played the first of four games this week and travel to No. 13 Dowling for a non-conference game on Thursday. They host PSAC rival Kutztown on Saturday and welcome Philadelphia University for a non-conference game on Sunday.
