Game 2 - L 8-0 (6 inn.)

WEST CHESTER – Freshman outfielder Kacie Killeen hit a two-run double and freshman Taylor Webb and sophomore Laura Suits combined on a two-hitter as East Stroudsburg University notched a 3-2 win in the first game of Friday's PSAC East softball doubleheader at West Chester.

Kate Skokowski threw a five-hit shutout as West Chester won an 8-0 (6 inn.) game in the nightcap.

ESU (7-16, 3-3 PSAC East) scored all three of its runs in the fifth inning in the opener, turning a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead. Killeen's double scored junior Kaitlin Blum, who was pinch-running for senior 2B Brandi Stettler, and freshman SS Jamie Smith, to put ESU in front 2-1. Senior 3B Rachel Gieringer hit a two-out double to score Killeen with an insurance run.

Webb gave up just two hits, struck out three and walked four in 5.0 innings before being relieved by Suits with runners on second and third and nobody out in the sixth. West Chester made it 3-2 with a sacrifice fly with one out, but freshman LF Cara Woods cut down the potential tying run at third for the third out of the inning.

Suits pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning for her first career save for ESU, which split its third straight PSAC East doubleheader to open the conference schedule.

Killeen and Gieringer had two hits each and ESU had four hits in the game. Both of Killeen's hits were doubles.

In the second game, West Chester (19-14, 2-4) had eight hits and scored three runs in the first and three in the sixth to pull away. Shortstop Jessica Norris was 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the fifth inning and eight different players accounted for the Golden Rams' RBIs.

Skokowski didn't have a strikeout or a walk in the circle for West Chester and five players had hits for ESU. Freshman Marianne Wright threw the first 5.0 innings and freshman Shaylyn Wood came on in the sixth for the Warriors.

ESU heads to Mansfield for a non-conference doubleheader with the Mounties on Saturday at 1 p.m.
