EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior
Amanda Kaufman defeated Bloomsburg's Michelle Perez, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 1 singles to highlight East Stroudsburg University's 7-2 setback to the Huskies in PSAC East women's tennis on Tuesday afternoon at Wolbers Courts.
Kaufman's win over Perez, a two-time PSAC East Player of the Week this spring and last year's PSAC East Freshman of the Year, is the first for an ESU No. 1 singles player against Bloomsburg in at least 10 years.
Kaufman improves to 8-1 this spring and 10-5 overall this season. An All-PSAC East selection in singles in each of her first three seasons, Kaufman posted her 45th career win and 37th career dual win at No. 1 singles.
The No. 2 doubles team of junior
Rabecca Lausch and freshman
Elizabeth Longenhagen had an 8-4 win over Danielle Walsh and Erin Reitenauer for ESU's other point and notched the team's first No. 2 doubles win this year.
In the other two doubles matches, sophomore
Annie Vega and freshman
Taylor Presby fell 9-7 at No. 3 and Kaufman and freshman
Allison Bean fell to Perez and Emily Palko, 8-3, at No. 1.
Bloomsburg took the second through sixth singles matches in straight sets to improve to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in the PSAC East.
The Warriors are back on the court this weekend at Shippensburg as they face the Lady Raiders on Friday at 4 p.m., and Cheyney on Saturday at 9 a.m.
