PUEBLO, Colo. – Junior Matt Tholis became East Stroudsburg University's eighth All-American in the men's javelin, placing seventh with a mark of 213-7 as the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships concluded on Saturday at Colorado State-Pueblo.

Tholis hit his best mark on his third and final attempt in the prelims after throwing 208-5 on his previous attempt. His best throw in the finals was 208-10 on the first of three attempts. Tholis was previously an NCAA Division III national qualifier as a sophomore at Rowan in 2010.

ESU had two All-Americans at this year's NCAA Championships in Tholis and senior Dan Johnson, who was eighth in the decathlon on Friday in his first and only trip to the NCAA Championships. Junior Corinne Fitzgerald, who was also a national qualifier in cross country this year, placed 10th in the 3000m steeplechase.

ESU has had 21 All-Americans in men's track and field since 1971, including Tholis and Johnson, who was the Warriors' first decathlete to earn All-America honors.

Tholis joins seven previous All-Americans in the javelin in Ed Long (1971-72), Mike Revenis (1981-82), Lance Branyan (1992), Al Yackenchick (1992), Barry Krammes (2002-03), Dan Gale (2004) and Josh Hontz (2011), who was the national runner-up a year ago and took a redshirt this season to prepare for the U.S. Olympic Trials.

Tholis' mark of 213-7 is the third-best in school history and surpasses his PR of 212-6, which he threw on May 5 to place second in the PSAC. Hontz set the school record of 225-4 at last year's NCAA Championships, Branyan threw 222-11 in 1992 and Krammes hit the fourth-best mark of 213-0 in 2004.
