EAST STROUDSBURG – Three players scored their first goals of the season and freshman forward
Sammi Jo Hughes added two assists as East Stroudsburg University blanked Mercyhurst, 3-0, in its PSAC women's soccer home opener on Friday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Ashley McKenna all scored for the Warriors (2-0-2, 1-0-1), who remain unbeaten through four games for the first time since 1999 and the fifth time in the 21-year history of the program.
ESU, playing for the first time since a 1-1 tie at Mansfield on Sept. 5, took a first-half lead when senior midfielder
Marissa Spitler led Connell with a pass through the center of the Mercyhurst defense, and Connell knocked it past goalkeeper Ellie McDougall in the 33rd minute.
Hughes, one of seven players to score for ESU this season, assisted on both second-half goals. She set up Keller for a left-footed blast from the edge of the 18-yard box for her second career goal in the 54th minute, and played a ball from the end line that found McKenna for the game-clinching goal in the 78th minute.
Junior goalkeeper
Brittain Wagner made six saves to record her fifth career shutout, and fourth solo shutout. She improves to 7-4-3 in 16 games, including 12 starts, over the last two years. She has a 0.68 goals against average through four games.
McDougall had seven saves for Mercyhurst (3-2, 0-2), which won 1-0 in each of its first three victories and fell 5-0 to Slippery Rock in its PSAC opener.
ESU held a 16-13 advantage in shots on the afternoon.
The Warriors host Gannon on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Golden Knights (4-0, 1-0) are at Bloomsburg for the first half of their eastern trip on Friday night.
