CALDWELL, N.J. - Junior
Annie Vega and sophomore
Taylor Presby posted wins in singles and doubles, but East Stroudsburg University fell to Caldwell, 5-4, in its women's tennis dual opener on Thursday afternoon.
Caldwell (1-4) won at first, second and fourth singles and first and second doubles and had three double-winners in Emily Slater (No. 1 singles/No. 1 doubles), Gwynne Alden (No. 2/No. 2) and Briana Gaspich (No. 4/No. 1).
Senior
Rabecca Lausch won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for ESU, Vega on 7-5, 6-0 at No. 5 and Presby was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 6. In doubles, Vega and Presby had an 8-1 win.
Freshman
Amina Dickson and sophomore
Allison Bean played first and second singles and first doubles for ESU. Dickson steps into the lineup replacing
Amanda Kaufman, last year's PSAC East Athlete of the Year and ESU's Senior Female Athlete of the Year.
ESU had won six straight meetings with Caldwell since 2006-07. The Warriors won 5-4 last season.
ESU's next action comes at Moravian next Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
