MANSFIELD – Redshirt junior back Carly Collins scored the game-tying goal with just under four minutes left in the first half as East Stroudsburg University and Mansfield produced a 1-1 tie in the PSAC women's soccer opener for both schools on Wednesday afternoon.

Collins scored her seventh career goal, and sixth off a corner kick, heading in the corner taken by senior midfielder Marissa Spitler with 3:51 remaining in the first half.

Mansfield (1-0-1) struck first on a goal by Jessica Kerwin in the 34th minute, assisted by Kelsey Chapman.

ESU held advantages in shots of 7-4 in the first half, 7-3 in the second half and 9-0 in overtime for a 23-7 margin on the afternoon.

Mansfield's Alexis Wilhelm made 13 saves, five in overtime, and ESU junior Brittain Wagner had four saves. Wagner sports a 0.87 goals against average through three games, allowing one goal in each game, including two overtime contests for 310 minutes played.

The Warriors (1-0-2) are unbeaten through their first three games for the third time in the last five years. They opened the season with a 1-1 tie at Concord and posted a 2-1 victory over Tusculum (Tenn.) last weekend in West Virginia.

Mansfield held a special ceremony prior to the game to honor Kaitlyn McBride, a rising senior who passed away in an automobile accident in early June. The Mounties had a 2-1 comeback win at Goldey-Beacom in their season opener last Saturday.

ESU's next action doesn't come until Sept. 14-15, when the Warriors host Mercyhurst on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Gannon on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in their first home contests of the season.
