EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University held a 20-19 lead at halftime, but California opened the second half with a 13-0 run and went on to post a 65-50 victory in PSAC women's basketball on Saturday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Stephanie Michael scored 18 points, 13 in the second half, and was 4-of-5 from the three-point line for California (9-2, 5-2), which shot 46.4 percent (13-28) and made eight three-pointers after halftime after shooting just 29.6 percent (8-27) in the first half.

Sophomore forward Jessica Martin had 11 points and six rebounds, junior guard Andrea Veres had 10 points and freshman center Michelle Boggs had a career-high 10 points for ESU (4-7, 3-4).

The Warriors shot 8-for-18 in the first half to offset 18 turnovers, while holding California to 8-for-27 shooting in the opening period to take their one-point lead into halftime.

Michael and Chelsea McKnight (11 points) both hit three-pointers in California's stretch to open the second half. Emma Mahady and Ryah Gadson also had 11 points each for the visitors.

The Warriors got within 43-35 on a three-pointer by Veres with just under eight minutes left, but Michael hit back-to-back three's to help the Vulcans pull away.

ESU's four-point lead (13-9) with 9:25 left in the first half was the biggest for either team. The Warriors held California scoreless for a stretch of almost five minutes at the end of the period and scored five straight points, including a layup by Martin and jumper by Veres, before Gadson scored to close the half for Cal.

Both teams shot 38 percent from the field, but Cal made six more three-pointers (9 to 3). ESU had a 41-32 advantage in rebounds, getting six each from Martin and freshman guard Tyeca Reviere and five from Veres and Boggs. California won the turnover margin, 28-18.

ESU heads west for its final PSAC crossover weekend of the season next Friday and Saturday, making stops in Slippery Rock and Edinboro.
