EAST STROUDSBURG - Freshman midfielder
Shea Neal had a goal and two assists, leading East Stroudsburg University to a 3-0 win over Pitt-Johnstown in PSAC women's soccer on Saturday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Neal scored ESU's first goal in the 25th minute, assisted on the first career goal by freshman forward
Hannah Gombos just 1:44 later, and also set up the third goal of the year for sophomore forward
Sammi Jo Hughes in the 62nd minute as ESU improved to 7-4-2 (7-4-2 PSAC) going into a tough closing stretch of conference play.
ESU had a 25-3 advantage in shots over UPJ (0-13, 0-13) and senior goalkeeper
Brittain Wagner had one save for her fifth solo shutout of the season, and sixth overall. She has 14 career solo shutouts, and 16 career total shutouts, in 40 starts.
Neal leads the Warriors with five goals and had the first two assists of her career. Timi Shiock had 10 saves for UPJ.
ESU sits in the eighth and final playoff spot in the PSAC standings going into the final two weeks of the regular season. The Warriors (23 points) finish the season with road games at Slippery Rock (28), California (PSAC-best 33) and Edinboro (25), beginning next Friday at Slippery Rock.
The Warriors host Chestnut Hill in their final home game, and only non-conference game of the season, on Monday at 7 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
