KUTZTOWN - Senior
Kim Wernerspach was eighth for her third career All-PSAC honor, and junior
Chris Schneider was 15th for his second all-conference award to lead East Stroudsburg University at the 2013 PSAC Cross Country Championships, held Saturday at Kutztown.
Schneider, the only scorer returning from last year's men's team that finished second in the conference, helped the Warriors to a sixth-place finish - their eighth straight year placing in the top six in the PSAC.
Schneider ran a time of 26:07.3 on the 8K course. He was followed by Junior
Steve Ruch (24th, 26:21.8), junior
Chris Ott (33rd, 26:42.0), sophomore
Alex Zubko (34th, 26:45.2) and freshman
Anthony Ruiz (52nd, 27:23.6).
Wernerspach was eighth in 22:31.2 on the 6K course after placing 15th last year. ESU was 11th in the field of 17 schools.
Sophomore
Chelsea Conover ran 37th in 23:41.3, followed by junior
Chelsea Wootten (68th, 24:31.7), sophomore
Abby Ross (73rd, 24:41.1) and senior
Kim Lowry (87th, 25:01.2).
Lock Haven won the men's team title with 37 points, followed by two-time defending champion Edinboro (72), Shippensburg (89), California (141), Slippery Rock (145) and ESU (154).
Lock Haven's Alex Monroe won the men's race in 24:43.6, just edging California's Aaron Dinzeo for his second straight PSAC title.
Mansfield won its first-ever PSAC women's title with 65 points, followed by Edinboro (77), five-time defending champion Shippensburg (103), IUP (118) and Seton Hill (166).
Bloomsburg's Victoria Davis had a 30-second margin of victory, running 21:34.0 to outpace Edinboro's Sarah Krolick.
The Warriors will compete at the Lock Haven River Run next weekend before heading back to the Haven for the NCAA Atlantic Regionals on Saturday, November 9.
