CALIFORNIA – No. 6-ranked California strengthened its hold on the top seed in the PSAC women's soccer tournament with a 3-0 win over visiting East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon.
The Vulcans (13-2-1, 13-1) got goals from Janelle McCann in the 28th minute, Kara Novotny in the 42nd and Chelsea Crockett in the 60th to earn their 13th straight win after an 0-2-1 start, including a 2-1 loss at defending PSAC champion Slippery Rock to open the season.
Cal held a 14-2 advantage in shots, including 10-0 in the first half. Ashley Magruda played the first 80:25 in goal and made one save.

Brittain Wagner had five saves for ESU (8-6-2, 7-6-2), which holds a one-point lead on the eighth and final PSAC playoff spot going into the final week of the season.
ESU (23 points) has one game remaining, at Edinboro (11-4-1, 9-4-1 – 28 points, tied for 4th) on Thursday night.
Mercyhurst (22 points) has games remaining vs. Mansfield and at Kutztown, Millersville (22) is at Slippery Rock and home vs. California, and IUP (19) is at Lock Haven and home vs. Bloomsburg. All of those games will be played either Wednesday or Saturday next week.
