EDINBORO – Liz Debo scored 2:02 into the game and Edinboro went on to post a 3-0 win over East Stroudsburg University, knocking the Warriors from PSAC Tournament contention in their final game of the season, on Thursday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium.
Allyson Overly scored in the 60th minute and Becca Costello added a penalty kick in the 69th minute after assisting on the first two goals for Edinboro (12-4-1, 10-4-1), which can host a PSAC Tournament first round game with a win at West Chester on Saturday.
ESU (8-7-2, 7-7-2) was looking for its fifth PSAC Tournament in seven years and a chance to get back to the conference semifinals after advancing last fall.
The Warriors opened 5-0, were unscored upon until the end of the first half of the fifth game of the season and were ranked No. 6 in Division II, but finished 3-7-2 including two overtime losses in conference play.
They needed a win on Thursday, and a Mercyhurst loss or tie against Kutztown on Saturday, to advance to postseason play.
Senior goalkeeper
Brittain Wagner made six saves and was one of four seniors to play their final career games for the Warriors.
A three-year starter in goal, Wagner finishes second at ESU in career shutouts (17), first in solo shutouts (15) which have been kept since 2003, tied for second in goals against average (1.06), third in minutes played (4260:18) and fourth in saves (231).
She had a career record of 23-14-8 (.600) in 49 games, including 44 starts, and played in 67 total games at ESU after starting all 18 games at left back as a freshman. She was named to the All-PSAC second team last season.
As a senior, she had seven shutouts (six solo) with a 0.96 goals against average, 79 saves and a .823 save percentage.

Michelle Gogolen, a two-time All-PSAC selection, played in 71 games and made 67 starts in her four years, contributing four goals and two assists. Forward

Katie Metrokotsas, who will be graduating, played in eight games (six this year) while limited due to injury.
ESU is 69-50-16 (.570) in seven seasons under
Rob Berkowitz with four PSAC Tournament appearances, including three trips to the semifinals. The Warriors were 34-30-9 over the last four years.
