BLOOMSBURG - Sophomore forward
Ally Roth scored her 12th goal of the season to pull within 2-1 early in the second half, but No. 7 East Stroudsburg University was unable to get any closer as No. 6-ranked Bloomsburg held on for a PSAC field hockey win on Wednesday afternoon.
Bloomsburg (6-4, 2-1) led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Felicia Domenici at the 8:14 mark, and took a two-goal lead as Brittany Mathews scored 5:55 into the second half.
Roth answered 3:09 later with a goal on a penalty corner, assisted by junior midfielder
Alexis Good. Roth entered the game ranked fourth in Division II in points per game (2.60) and fifth in goals (1.10).
Sophomore goalkeeper
Alexis Charles had four saves for ESU (5-6, 2-2), which beat Bloomsburg 4-2 in a non-conference game on September 11 with all six goals coming in the second half, including two goals and an assist by Roth.
Bloomsburg held advantages of 9-3 in shots and 9-4 in penalty corners. Megan Eppley made one save in goal for the Huskies.
ESU hosts Mansfield (3-7, 0-4) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Whitenight Field.
