EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior middle blocker
Elizabeth Madden had a career-high 14 kills in her final match and senior setter
Allye Preziosi added 29 assists as East Stroudsburg University fell in four sets to West Chester in PSAC East women's volleyball on Friday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Warriors won the second set, 25-15, hitting .333 (14 kills, 4 errors, 30 attacks), led by seven kills from Madden and four kills by junior outside hitter
Abby Welch.
West Chester won the first and third sets, 25-20, before finishing at 25-22 in the fourth.
Welch had 10 kills, finishing the season with 16 matches in double-figures, including six straight to close the year. She led the Warriors with 301 kills and 2.87 kills per set.
Sophomore libero
Maddie Hutchison had 16 digs to go over the 500-dig mark for the season (507), ninth-most in school history. Junior
Erin Rothrock added 12 digs and redshirt sophomore
Haley Mork had eight.
Julia O'Brien had 12 kills and seven blocks to lead West Chester (15-17, 7-14), which finishes its season on Saturday at Kutztown. The Warriors end the year at 6-27 (2-20).
Preziosi closes her career at ESU ranked in the school's top 10 in three categories – fourth in aces (119), fifth in assists (2,310) and 10th in digs (945). She also added 310 kills and 138 blocks while playing in 397 sets – all but 14 over the last four seasons.
Madden topped her previous career-high of 13 kills, set as a junior at Kutztown, and season-high of 10 kills, set two weeks ago at Pitt-Johnstown. She had 236 career kills, including 95 this season, and 85 career blocks. A two-sport athlete, she is the defending PSAC indoor champion in the weight throw and the Warriors' school record holder.
Freshman
Sydney Galoozis was second on the Warriors with 194 kills (2.49 per set), playing in 26 matches and missing seven due to injury. Junior
Annabelle Charlton had five triple-doubles in 16 matches in September, earning the first PSAC East Athlete of the Week award, before missing the final 17 matches of the year.
