KUTZTOWN – Senior Allison Schafer and junior Jamie Kane both won two events and recorded PSAC qualifying times to lead East Stroudsburg University to first place against a field of five schools at the Kutztown Golden Bear Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Warriors won three of the five relays – 200 medley, 400 medley and 800 free – and had 637 points, outpacing Montclair State (610), Kutztown (464), Salisbury (314) and Ocean County College (26).

Schafer won the 500 free in a PSAC qualifying time of 5:15.77, and the 200 back in 2:17.70. She was also third in the 1650 free (18:26.28) and swam on the 400 medley and 800 free relays.

Kane won the 100 breast in 1:11.20 and 200 breast in 2:31.79, and contributed to the 200 and 400 medley relays. She has PSAC qualifying times in both breaststroke events this season.

Junior Shelby Stalnaker gave the Warriors a third individual winner, taking the 100 back in 1:03.54. She was second behind Schafer in the 200 back (2:22.05) and third in the 50 free (26.08) while swimming on the 200 and 400 medley relays.

Junior Karoline Vavra was second in the 50 free (25.37), 100 free (54.92) and 200 free (2:01.24) and helped the Warriors win the 200 medley relay. Sophomore Sophie Coy was second in the 400 IM (5:01.09) and sophomore Cyndi Kline third in the 100 free (56.83). Kline also swam on the winning 400 medley and 800 free relays.

Junior Mara Palazzari (200 medley) and junior Danielle Davis and freshman Jennifer Lauer (800 free) also swam on winning relays for the Warriors. ESU was second in both the 200 and 400 free relays.

The Warriors will compete in the Diamond City Invitational in Wilkes-Barre next weekend.
